im reading that my stock thermometer is a piece of junk. anyone recommend a good replacement? i read where someone is using the char-briol universal fit thermometer. i bought an old smokey from academy but have not tried it. i want to get one that is reliable. thanks in advance!

Forget about the stock thermometer. It is junk and its in the wrong place anyway. You want to check temp at the grate. You know, where the food is. Who cares what temp is at the top of the lid? You can buy a good digital at walmart or the like for around 12$. Get two so you can check cooking temp and meat temp at the same time. Or get the Maverick et73.

i like the 2 probe remote... one probe=smoker temp the other = meat temp....

add others for the more than one meat smokes....

see signature for list...
