Don't know the max temp it will go to. Someone might. But why do you need to know the max temp? It should go as high as any piece of meat you will cook.
Hi- looks like you have a great site here! I've been a weber bbq griller, brinkman smoker, and lately a gas griller for quite some time but I'm ready to move to the next level. After smoking a turkey a couple of weeks ago it took so long (but was SO GOOD) that I've decided to add an electric smoker to my "family" as well and that's how I found this site; by researching e-smokers.
Doing the turkey really drummed into me that I needed a remote thermometer instead of my instant probe (that lets the heat out and so adds incredible cooking time to my leaky smoker on windy days).
Walmart had them on clearance ($11) where I'm at and so I bought one and the base unit would never light up its "on" light, and would never connect to the probe. I figured ok and swapped it for another one. Same thing. They won't talk to each other and the base "on" light shows no power.
Ugly reviews! Thanks for the link. I guess it's a good thing mine won't get off the starting line because if it did it looks like it would probably fail right in the middle of the race.
I'll check out the forum on remote thermometers- I'm sure that with all the people in this forum that there are a couple that have stood the test of time.
