So we just got a chest freezer after JC told us how useful his was when we met him..
..

The day we turned it on..our main fridge goes on the fritz.

Talk about timing! Any thing we could freeze, we did! Any thing that I could fit in my mini fridge, I did.

Good way to clean all the clutter out of the fridge and clean it though! LOL!

I have a chest freezer too. whenever i go the the grocery store if meat is on sale I get a lot depending on what the sale is which is often buy one get one free.
Then i remove it from the original packaging and vacuum seal label what it is and the date i put it in. sometimes i season the meat before sealing.

The universe is kind to you for taking the wise JC's advice.

Glad to see things are working out. You will love being able to buy meat in bulk at half the price.

Yep, a chest freezer is a great addition. We have an upright freezer and keep the everyday meats in it (Miss Linda is short enough that she almost has to climb inside a chest freezer to reach the bottom) LOL.
We also have a mid-sized chest freezer to keep the bulk meat purchases in. Really handy to have when I buy a whole pig or half a beef.

the only thing is you have to remember to rotate your meats, or in a couple years you'll find some well aged beef, I know this from experience.

Well right now we don't have any thing bulk yet.

I mean unless you count the bulk dog hair that clogged up the fans on the fridge fan.. LOL

I think you should break it in properly with a box of spare ribs from GFS.

Was leaning towards a thing of chuckies to be fair...

But then it's like 'what is this 20 pounds of chuck roast actually?'

I'm not sure if it's lean etc etc..gotta figure out the butcher code vs what I buy in the store!

What do you pan for the chuck roasts?

I made singe great smoked roast beef for French dip sandwiches.

Pork shoulder is inexpensive and versatile.

I wouldn't mind splitting a case sometime.

8 shoulders per case....

Anyway just a thought. Good luck in getting that unit stocked! Can't wait to see what you cook.
