After my run around trying to get my Lumberjack Hickory Pellets and ended up without Hickory but a few other blends I decided to clean hopper and augur. I have not empty my hopper in very long time. I used my 5 gallon bucket with vacuum head to empty hopper. Really not must dust to speak of in it. Went ahead and ran augur until empty and put vacuum on it as I have been hearing some noise but probably just normal. None of this was necessary as far as I could see. Been trying without foil last few times but going back with it. Easier to clean and made no difference in performance. Mine runs 25 degree hot and i just adjust set point for it. Well its ready for another smoke. Man I wish they would of had a good sale on Brisket!

The killer of pellets and augers is water and or high humidity.
Try Smokey Woods pellets or Oklahoma Joe's if you can find them. I like them better than lumber Jack albeit LJ are pretty darn good.

I did a quick comparison between brisket and chuck roast price per pound after trimming and cooking. They were about even but chuck roast are more likely to be on sale.

I wonder if the huge increase in brisket at places like Buckies gas station has an impact on brisket prices.? They are building those gas stations all over the Southeast.

thanks for the write up Brian. I pondered cleaning the hopper once...than spaced it. I have always used foil, I feared too much stuff would get burnt on the drip pan.
