So as part of the smokehouse way build a downsized pellet was in the plan…..so went to Ace take a gander and while I was on the fence the 1600 went on sale….and as I mentioned on another post you can get recteq through amazon so you can get rewards back!!! Ordered and it was scheduled to be delivered this coming Thursday but happed to look out the door this was sitting in the driveway…..

Was delivered in 4 DAYS!!! I mean I’m still waiting for some small parts i ordered as the same time…..

Since it came way sooner than expected it took a few days to put it together and rolled into Smokehouse Way….

HOLY PELLET SMOKER!!!!! Finally a pellet smoker that can have a turkey or full prime rib roast on a rack and have a drip pan under with enough space that there isn’t evaporative cooling from the pan….

recteq well done!!!! WELL DONE!!!

I’m SO glad glad I didn’t down size ie loose function over the RT 1250. I will take some pics of the inside when I do the burnin this week end. There are some really nice added features! @sandyut I will take pics of how they did the double grease pots for Ya!

As any FYI, this is a 1250 that has been vertically stretched 5-6 inches higher! The drip pan is way improved as is the auger design. This is a cooker!!! Which is saying something cause the 1250 is/was a cooking machine!

Did a little shuffling around in Smokehouse Way for both form and function and I’m likening the new layout!

By the way Smokehouse Way was the vehicle to make this happen…..Ie the “old” cooking covered patio has a new fire in it with a view!!!

More pics of the FS1600 and first use impressions to come…..

Wow! Nice! Happy for you!
Much appreciated yankee! Been saving and working for a while to make this happen!
That’s a very nice cooker you got there!
Thanks CS!
That's awesome... BUT ...

I think SmokeHouse Way is in need of an expansion already... With those 3 cookers it's starting to look a little crowded already... just saying...
Thanks and it’s just right as Goldie locks stated….. It forces me to be tapped out! Hence the Copper Pot finding a new caretaker! Oh and I thought about making to bigger but having to add center posts brought me back to reason so this is all she wrote…lol.

Oh PS, Mrs C asked me as we were moving things in….. “are you sure it’s big enough”……. :emoji_wink:

That smoker looks incredible! Wow! So much space. Definitely curious about the dual grease pots and drip tray upgrades.

I thought the same, need room for the beer fridge, couch, hot tub etc...let's get back to work...lol

Awesome, looks like its coming along nicely 👍
Many thanks JL!
Thanks norm!
Nice rig , to go with the other nice rigs.

Nice to have a room with a view also , out of the hot sun and light rains.

David
Thanks David, yea we basically split the sitting relaxing area with the “kitchen” area so would lounge with the smoke free fire while the cookers do their job around the corner!

lol….never thought about sitting in a hot tub next to a smoker…..would need a hand drying rack before reaching for the wood!
100% agree! in that order!
……….just don’t drop a log in hot tub…might cause might spill the beer while fishing for it!
Awesome my friend, and you’ve quite the arsenal now! Was great to briefly catch up and visit yesterday!
Thanks Rafter! Yea it was fun to catch up and I hope to find some time to run then!

Here you go @sandyut…..time to look under the hood…..

First the deflector plate is peaked in the center…ie it reduces the distance and increases the slope to have the oils drain more quickly reduce oils from burning…..
IMG_4380.jpeg

Next each side has a oil pan catch with drain RT side
IMG_4381.jpeg

Lt side
IMG_4382.jpeg

The oil pan and drain to the bucket underneath
IMG_4383.jpeg

The deflector plate just have a clean angle bend vs the an angle with a 1/2 circle cut at the drain….this makes it easier foil wrap the deflector plate pan.
IMG_4384.jpeg

This next upgrade was a surprise and bonus….they added an access plate to the auger so you can clean it out if needed!!!
IMG_4385.jpeg

Here are the stats in the initial fire up….primmed the pot and set it for 375…

It took about 11 mins to 225. Nite the auger was empty….
IMG_4388.jpeg

Just over 20 mins to 325….i did open the lid once to check one things….you can see the dip.
IMG_4390.jpeg

About 35 mins to 375…..it did slow down as it approached to stabilize and it didn’t over shoot…..
IMG_4392.jpeg

Ran it at 375 till all the funny smells went away and sweet smoke was oh plenty! It was pretty windy out but it held very tight to the set temp.
IMG_4393.jpeg

I haven’t done read or verified but it sounded like it has a variable speed fan as the fan tone and apparent air flow changed and cycled differently.

Initial thoughts are it does take a bit more time to heat to higher temps over the RT 1250 but zeroed in and held more consistently even with opening the lid a few times at the set temp…….

if the stars aligns the initial cook will be tomorrow!!!

WOW!!! Those look like upgrades that were well thought out! Might be a hard sell to the boss, but I want one! Thank you for all the details!

Nice and nice cooking area! What's that big beast smoker on the left?
Thanks jcam and that big beast would be the X-Fire Grill……

Here is the build thread…….

Here is its latest cooks!

Yea recteq actually did some research and added additional functionality to an already excellent cooker!

The chamber/shelf spacing is near perfect in my book. I was able to see one back in June at an Ace Hardware but the price point was more than the set budget…..then the sale came along as I was gonna pull the trigger on a smaller unit…..called and audible and it was done……
