Newbie here, but a long time lurker. I have just about nailed down that I want a Rectec from everything I have read about the company.

Question regarding their stampede and bull and the way they vent. Is there a difference in heat and smoke because of the open vents on the stampede. Seems like holes across the back would allow more smoke and heat to evacuate faster then the single stack the bull has.

Any input is greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

I dont have a Rec Tec but several guys on here do. They seem to love them and always speak highly about them. Im sure some of the Rec tec owners will be along shortly to answer your question. Until then, welcome to the site and look forward to hearing what you choose.

I just recently bought the Stampede and have done 3 cooks on it.
I chose the Stampede over the bull partly because of the vent layout.
The temps are so consistent throughout the Cook chamber, and I’ve read elsewhere that the stack at the right side of the Bull causes it to be cooler at that end. I did an overnight 12-1/2 hour cook of a 8 lb. pork butt and never turned or wrapped it. It is without a doubt the best butt I ever made, incredible bark!

My good friend has the bull, he just got it last year and loves it. I haven't heard one negative thing from him and he uses it a ton. He got all the additions too which adds to the total cost a lot but it's pretty cool. If I had the $$$, I would get that.

One of the factory Rec Tec videos about the Bull has the owner of the company turning a brisket around as he explains that one end is hotter than the other due to the exhaust being on one end.

I will have to find that video. Very interesting.

Thanks for the responses
