I just got the dreaded comment from the Mrs. "I' m a little burned out on smoked stuff". (?!?!). I suppose I have been smoking something or other all summer every chance I get. Has anyone else heard this? How did you cope with it? Is smoking meat mainly a " guy" thing and the ladies just put up with it to a point?

LOL  Absolutely. Give it a break for a week and then smoke her favorite the following week.  My wife love smoked spatchcocked chicken on the mini.

Many of us are obsessed with the smoke.  Always looking for improvement. ...So we cook weekly. I imagine it could be a bit much for others. b

I got that as well! SWMBO only wants chicken and tri tip anymore. At some point I hope to do brisket but pretty sure pork is done as she won't even buy it for normal use anymore.

Yep, add me to the group. Wife says that every time I fire up the pellet grill. Getting tired of explaining there's no smoke flavor when grilling on high temps.

She did rave about the chicken and strammi I did yesterday tho...

Yep, I got the same not long back! If I say I am cooking something, we have a big inquest into what it is how much smoke and how long will it take.

Same here, only in my household I'm the only one that "cooks!"  Wife is on a perpetual diet and hasn't cooked a real meal in years.  I learned to co out of self preservation.  So, whenever I hear the dreaded "I'm smoked out," I reply I'll gladly stop if you'll start cooking meals that actually have real meat in them.  That usually ends the discussion.  However, I continue to see her salads topped with smoked chicken or pulled pork, and whenever I do sliced Eye of Round for sandwich it disappears real quick!  But we got to love 'em :-)

Try branching out. Start smoking things that aren't everyday meal items. Try jerky, sausages, bacon, cheese, nuts, etc. That way you still get a smoke fix, but you aren't overpowering the family with smoked food everyday.

My wife just asked what I wanted for dinner this week. I listed off 4 or 5 smoked items that I have in the freezer and she responded with "those sound like meals for you". I guess that means she is getting a little tired of smoked food. But like @FloridaSteve  , her salads last week were topped with smoked turkey breast.

I am with you on this Steve, I do 90% of the cooking in our house, it's safer. We all know when the wife cooks, the smoke alarm sounds when it's ready!! Her idea of a meal is Baked Potato with Salad!

Jerky is another matter.  She LOVES it and would be fine with me smoking it every day.  Whenever she brings it up, I tell her "ya, I got to do some more, but not until I cook X, Y & Z which are already in the freezer. ;-)

Well! It seems I'm not the only one! In retrospect, when I got the smoker she's the one who found a perfect fit cover on Amazon, and when she heard me grumbling about how a 9" cast iron pan would work better as a wood holder instead of the 10" that was just lying around the garage, a 9" appeared on the kitchen table a couple days later. Life is good. It's getting cold out so a smoking hiatus is looming, anyway, and she'll eventually get hungry for those FOTB ribs and ABTs she likes.
Thanks for the "cheering up", guys!

Now about that sausage making. We do go through a lot of store bought sausage. Sounds like a winter endeavor in my comfy garage [emoji]128512[/emoji]

You can always wrap the food for your mrs in foil tightly and still cook on the smoker just take away the smoke flavor.

In case of a divorce you're sure to get the smoker!!!

Just trying to look on the bright side.

No, Skelly, I've been informed that if that were to ever to happen I'd be lucky to get the clothes out of my closet..

But if the worst should happen, one little thing off the patio wouldn't be missed [emoji]128522[/emoji]

You're lucky there.  Miss Linda has informed me that in case of divorce, all I would get is one of my knives.  In the back.  In the middle of the night.
