Re introduced to an old friend

    This thread is pretty meaningless but a prelude to tomorrow nights Qview of some deer brats.

    I hadnt used my Cabelas 1hp grinder in over a year and when I had stopped using it it was overheating at the bushing in the rear of the head.

    I got it out and looked things over. The bushing is a ceramic or very hard plastic, I could see a little wear mark in it. After realizing I couldnt really fix it without surgery I opted to grease the bushing with some corn oil. Well that did the ticket. All but the rear hams and the loin of the biggest doe I have ever seen in my life was ground twice, once with the big plate then with the small.

    Now I got to say it sure is nice to pull a beauty out of mothballs and fire her up and get the results like this. I was again impressed, 3 bread pans overflowing with deer parts was gone in less than 3 minutes. It took a little longer for the second grind just because the ground meat has to be pushed into the auger

    Things went so well we cleaned it all back up and ground the leftover turkey, Pulled the mixer out of the closet and made a huge batch of turkey salad that was dang good.

    Tomorrow is traditional pork brats made with deer meat.

    Well Jeff dust that ojd thing off and have some fun with it. Now you make the sausage and get it all smoked and then we can see it. Well you better get to stuffing.
