Where the motor home is parked
We have a Masterbuilt 30" Electric with digital controls.  The unit is 4 years old and we love it.  Usually the smoker is under wraps in inclement weather and the digital controls are inside the motor home.  A few weeks ago the wind came up and we had to put the awing up.  Since rain wasn't in the forecast we went to bed.  In the middle of the night it rained, not a lot but enough to get stuff wet.  PANIC!  He brought the digital controls in - they were dry as a bone. Whew!

Later that day we went to put the second smoke on our bacon (no rain in the forecast and no wind) - turned the smoker on . . .  set temp worked, set time worked, pushed on . . .  and as so as it started heating the blew the breaker.  We went ahead and used our cold smoked box and got the second smoke on.  We've tried several times since - it does the same thing.

Does anyone have any clues - is it dead or is there something we've missed.  Debating on whether or not to replace it since we probably need to replace the furnace im the motor home or do some serious repairs - baby it's cold outside!

Thanks in advance.

Fix your home first. Since your smoker may be out of commission, or maybe not, here is an option to consider that serves two purposes. A fellow at work brought his in for a Thanksgiving Day pot luck and I was very impressed. He smoked a turkey at the office (outside on the porch). And it does produce smoke. The second function is as a regular roaster or second oven for those days when one oven is just not enough. We have a couple of Nerco roaster ovens that are use a lot, and not just at holidays. But Nesco does not have a smoke capability. Only Oster  But as a second oven, or slow cooker, they are great. Of course, you need to smoke outdoors, or MAYBE under a range hood with the fan on if done indoors.

Is the unit plugged into a GFCI?

If so see if you have an option to power it from a non GFCI, it will not blow the breaker on a non GFCI, if the controls were dry, then its probably still of use on a different outlet.

Re the Furnace.

Get two basic 1500w 120v heaters at like Walmart.

Below 40f outside, use two heaters.

Above 40f, we lived with one heater.

Move it around the coach, if your'e in the front, and to the rear at bedtime.

With cozy footwear,  sweatpants and shirts.

If 50f or above outside, then shorts, t shirts.

Under $20 each.

Don't get sucked into any of the more expensive ones, total BS.

Buy two anyway, to have a backup, even if not cold, they go bad.

Not made like in years past.

On a tight budget, we used that for years after our Excaliber furnace got weird.

Just an idea.      Marc
