Was not planning on posting but it was so good thought I would share. Used Louisiana Gumbo mix. Added 6 cups chicken broth to package. Brought to a simmer. Added can of Trappey's Creole Okra Gumbo and gumbo file. Thanks for that Gumbo File Keith, indaswamp indaswamp . Let go 10 minutes. Added some left over brats, and some thawed rotisserie chicken I keep to make curry. Simmer 10 minutes. Add some 16-26 count shrimp and took off heat. Wait 10 minutes. Man this was good.

I'm guilty of using box mix Gumbo myself. I used to use Tony Cachere's but found Zatarans to be just as good for half the price. I like to add about a pound of boneless/skinlesss chicken thighs(cut-up) pound of andouille and a pound of 100-150 count tail off shrimp and of course some frozen sliced okra. What can I say, I like meats.

Looks and some new tasty Brian. Rotisserie chicken is a staple around here. Cheaper than buying raw and a multitude of uses.

Looks good 👌, I'm a sucker for a good gumbo.
Thanks

Thanks Sparky. I have used both. I think I like the Louisiana the best.
Nice work bud. Gumbo is high on my favorites list. Hope your hands and rash are on the mend!
Thanks Jake. Hands are a lot better than where they were. The nicer weather seems to have helped. Rash sucks! I guess its Psoriasis. My feet getting bad which worries me. Hope you doing better bud!

Thanks Jeff. Those birds at Sam's are so good! Now to try that sausage you recommended.
It does not taste like a gumbo to me without file'. Nothing wrong with the quick route when necessary....looks good.
I have a friend that gives me hell for using a mix. But when want gumbo at the last minute why not. Actually taste better than most you get at restaurants around here.

Grab some of the air fryer coating for chicken or fish .
Just did some thighs in the new range . Pretty good .

What did you end up getting?

Aint nothing wrong with using a box mix. And Its usually just a start point for most of us anyway. I always tweak the box with my own additions.
I'd sit down to a bowl or two of your gumbo in a heartbeat!

Mmmm gumbo! Looks good, it's nice to have a quick go-to you can easily repeat :D

I've never used a gumbo mix but I'll admit to using Zatarain's Dirty Rice. Doctored up with whatever sounds good in the moment or per instruction. I dunno what it is about it but I like it. I didn't try it until maybe 10 years ago, and I only make it about once a year lol
