Question on fb/cc opening

Question,my fire box to cc opening is 17.5x5 buy the time I get fire box up there take away 1/4 then another 1/4-1/2 for deflector plate is that going to work. Rf plate is already cut to size.

If you use Feldon's calculator, it will be too small.... If you used CC volume in cubic inches X 0.004, you will be fine....

Those are the specs you gave me Dave. Actually 17 1/4 wide but drunk Mexican at scrapyard cut it17.5 so my gain I guess. That leaves me same opening on other end for return heat. That crooked cut was after an 18 pk of colors lite with saws all.

I haven't been able to drink an 18 pack for at least 45 years.... Those were the days.....
