Q-view: the family and friends perspective

Just wonderin if any of you out there get the lame jokes, snide comments, and general disbelief that accompanies your Q-view photoshoot? "Are you actually taking pictures of raw meat?" they often say. I find myself having to sneak the camera around the kitchen and take pictures of my Q when ever some one isn't looking. Wife thinks I'm crazy, neighbors think I'm in need of a 12-step program, and the kids..well, they just don't want to be seen around me.

If only they understood...

Here's to all of you out there who bravely snap shots of your Q for all of us to enjoy, without concern for the public flogging you'll get.

wife and kids (2 of them) make fun of me too. But my 13 year old son always shouts, wait I'll get the camera!!, he looks like one of those papparazzi floggin a movie star, it is pretty funny. I gotta go through the pics to find the ones that arent blurry to try and post. my wife usually says "arent you gonna show your meat to everyone on you meatsmoker thingy."

Laughing Out Loud!!! My wife no longer thinks I'm crazy just for that, now it's just crazy in general for my smokin passion. Get my two teenagers today for a month. Expecting the rollin of the eyes, etc... They can live with the excentricities or here, eat this head of lettuce!!!

yup sure do, or did. i think at first it didnt seem like something a sane person would do, then they see you every weekend smokin, now they know you need help or counseling. then the lifeswtyle change, from a person who used to hate computers, is now on the "internet" most everyday, a member of a "forum", and then a "chat line", who is now actually using that digital camera but also "uploading,downloading" to a "picturesharing" site just so pix can be "copied and pasted" to a "thread". so now they know you are off the deep end... they conspire against you, talk intervention, but then they realize if they change you back they might have give up enjoying all the smoked stuff the madman at the smoker makin.... you know when you have reached this point when they start helping you get set up for the shot....lol, just joking or does that seem familiar

LOL, my wife goes and gets my camera and asks what lens I want to use. She's a keeper. Anything for the end result.

I'm new at the smoking thing and my wife and kids give me a hard time, They do laugh at me for spending so much time outside by my new best friend, My smoker LOL

I'm pretty lucky , my wife really enjoys photography. I got a funny look from her the first time taking a qview , but since then I've been literaly elbowed out of the way because she thought she could get a better pic

And she was right

FIre Guy, that's funny. I feel your pain. My wife thinks I'm an idiot for the pix. She still walks on the dark side, but both my girls have converted and like to take the photo's. I told my better half I could be home watching the fire or at the bar, your choice!!! Did not get the result I was looking for on that one but was a win win either way!

Same here. Matter of fact, yesteray I had some folks over for my stuffed loin. Well, I didn't have it sliced up yet so I didn't have a pic yet. So I sliced it up and I wanted to take a pic of it on a plate with the rest of the food. Everyone was standing in the kitchen and I went to get the camera and upon my return everyone gathered together (as if to take a picture). Needless to say, I got some flack for that!

The peeps who don't get the Q-VUE, are the same peeps who think you are wacko for staying up all night babysitting your charcoal....My ex didn't get it either, but when we had our ques he had no problem taken credit for the FABULOUS meat everyone was raving about...Now I only have to worry about family and friends trying to commit me...

yes, I used to get the same 'ribbing', no pun intended...lol...but now I get help with taking the pictures, especially when I am up to my elbows in food.
