So my baby turned 3 a few days ago and we're having a family bday party for her today. I woke up a few hours ago to throw the butt on the smoker and figured I may try this "posting BBQ progress throughout the day" thing. I'll throw some chicken on later (open to recipes / suggestions if anyone has any), and TOFU for my sister & her vegetarian daughters. It almost seems sacrilegious on a smoker, but I read online it can be done, so figured I'd give it a shot for them.

Started off w/ a 6.5 pounder

Beautiful Florida 4am sky. Just learned my cell phone can do long exposures (this is 30sec), so will have to play w/ this feature more. I find myself reaching for the DSLR less and less now!

Looks like a good start to your day. Only to get better I'm sure as family starts showing up. As for the chicken I like to do them at high heat with Weber Garlic rub. Just to get the crispy skin. Happy B-day to your daughter and enjoy.
