I used to work in a coal mine in the late 70's. It was like a brotherhood. So far I hear that 25 are dead and a lot injured.
What is really upsetting is the company had 500 safety violations alone in 2009 and fined $168,000 total. They say that's less than the company makes from coal in an hour. No wonder the company didn't fix the problems. It was cheaper to just continue its operations illegaly. I wouldn't blame the mine company on this one, it's the judicial system that screwed up.
One family lost 3 guys in there.
Thanx gang.

Yeah, I heard about this earlier this morning. Sounds just about like the cover-up in Utah a few years back.

Been in my thoughts all day, and will continue to be.

Hope everyone finds the strength to cope...it's not easy to loose family...I know first hand.

Also, I hope MSHA gets some kahonas and legislation gets changed so that the penalties get WAY stiffer.

My grandfather was trapped in one for I believe 7 days in the Pabst mine in Michigan, probably back in the 30 0r 40's, came out fine but never went back in again.

Our prays go out to the families of the lost. Now all we can do is hope that they get thre fast enough. Then it will be time to string up the company big wigs.

Bless them for turning on our lights each day . WE have been praying for them and the famlies ~
