Hello all,

I'm going to be smoking a pork picnic here shortly and am going to be finishing it with a vinegar based carolina red BBQ sauce. My question is this, should I rub it with anything before putting it in my smoker or should it go in naked? I have a few rubs that I could use that are either brown sugar based or chile powder based. I have Jeff's Naked Rub made and ready to go and could use that if it should be something I should look at. The end product is going to be a carolina pulled/chopped pork if all goes well.

I dont use any of those enough to say. I get all the free oak I need, so that is what I use..... I have heard a lot of good things about pecan....

Got it. Should I use Pecan, Maple, Apple or Cherry chips?
YES!...They are all good and a mix would be awesome. Definitely Rub the Picnic...JJ
