Anybody seen er used one a these? Seen one on bobby floppy throwdown an they sell em, also feller sellin plans ta build one, just wondered how well they really work? How ya keep that thin from burnin ta the ground?

Might be a cheaper way ta get inta hog roastin eh.

Andy I have seen an upright one that you just had to quarter the hog to use, Fire is built in the ground, pipe run over to the bottom of the plywood smoker,,, I have eaten pork off of one but I am not so sure after reading/hearing about the chemicals that go into making some of the osb and plywood...

Here in Louisiana they call em Cajun microwaves and are lined with thin stainless or just covered inside with foil. The lid is metal and built to recieve hot coals. Works like a big Dutch oven of sorts. You can do a internet search for cajun microwave and come up with losts of info.

Amen. I'm not anal about such things, but there IS some nasty stuff in processed wood. Like many things, it may be no problem if done infrequently.

I own three of the four models of La Caja China, and have written two cookbooks based on these roasters. Obviously, I'm partial to 'em, but yes, they are a great way to roast whole pigs (and lambs, goats, briskets, shoulders, turkeys, chickens, etc, etc, lol) any time, any where. Happy to answer any questions.

Lots of tips and recipes on my blog, as well.

Thanks!
