Plane nearly clipped the roof this afternoon.

Plane flew low over the house engine sounded like the margarita blenders of heII gargling ball bearings.

Hit my sons neighbors house. They were ok, pilot passed away.
Homebuilt aircraft.

Evidently was attempting to land on the fairway of a nearby golf course and sadly didn’t make it.

Second time we’ve experienced this.

Neighbors had a backyard wedding last Saturday and a helicopter made some super low passes over it.

I thought something similar, but that loud, sick engine was the red flag.
Heartbreaking.

That's crazy, how close to the airport do you live?

A few yrs ago I was driving on a local freeway and up ahead of me I see a plane go cross the traffic and pile up on the center divider. The runway runs right into the side of the freeway. Great city planning!!! (NOT).
They had an engine fail on take off, right when the plane left the ground.
One motorist was killed, hit by the plane's landing gear. The pilot was injured but survived. It was crazy to see.

Years before that, a few days before Christmas, a plane crashed onto the roof of our strip mall. My brother and myself just missed being in the area that burst into flames, we were so close we felt the heat of the explosion on our necks and backs. I had an amazing 1969 Camaro SS. that I had just restored and repowered. The plane was hanging off the roof of the mall about 30' away from my car. The PD and Fire Rescue had the area blocked off so we couldn't get to my car to leave, and I wasn't leaving it in the mall parking lot.
Finally got one of the Firemen to take my keys and drive the car out to me.
When he got out of the car, his words were,
"this car is one bad MoFo and I don't blame you one bit for not leaving it".
Both planes were using the same local airport, it's about 2 miles from my house.

If this is the one I heard about earlier it is no where near an airport. The flight was from Lancaster, Ca to Camarillo, CA. This was somewhere in the middle of the flight. I grew up in Simi Valley, CA where this happened.

Very Sad.
When I was a kid ,we had a similar Plane accident.
RE: Middle of the night we heard a loud BOOM!
We all thought that we were being Bombed, Cuban Missle Crisis was active then. My Dad went out the back door, there was an Orange glow in the sky.
A small plane came down and clipped the tree line and crashed sparing the neighboring house. It was a small US MAIL plane. The pilot did not make it ,plane was engulfed in flames as it came down. There was mail caught up in the trees . Remember seeing it the next morning. Back in the 60s I beleive ?

This is being discussed a lot on a pilot board on which I participate, but so far only a lot of speculation as to what went wrong. The National Transportation Safety Board should issue their preliminary report within two week, and I'll post it over here when I see it.

Wife was out walking the dog and said it sounded like a Cape air flight she was once on when later learned one of the engines fuel pump started failing. Engine was sputtering. In fits and starts.
Same Lycoming engine.

No preliminary report on the accident yet, it might take another week. If you want to look up the NTSB report for this or any other accident, the link is: https://www.ntsb.gov/Pages/AviationQueryv2.aspx

For this incident, just enter the aircraft tail number N626PB in the field labeled 'Registration'. You don't need to enter anything else, the preliminary report will come up. The Final reports are taking one to two years to issue, so the preliminary is all we'll have for a good long time.

Thanks.

The NTSB preliminary report finally issued--much later than expected, but the FAA has lost a lot of employees of late, which may have something to do with it. The report is attached. Final reports often take two years to issue, and I suspect they are going to take even longer going forward.

The preliminary report doesn't pin down the cause of the accident. It paints a picture of a pilot disoriented in instrument flying conditions and struggling to regain orientation and control of the aircraft, but it doesn't rule out mechanical or instrument failure as a contributory or primary cause of the crash. Given the degree of destruction of the aircraft, I'm not sure how much the NTSB will be able to glean from the wreckage.
