Has anyone used the PitBoss App for a PitBoss smoker or Grill? I downloaded it when I got my new PitBoss Smoker/Grill. It does the job of letting me look in on the temp in the smoker and the meat probes. I am disappointed because I thought the Analytics looked pretty cool but it looks like they start and stop every time I leave the app. So I will have like 10 analytic sessions in a smoke with basically zero useful information. I can only connect to the unit through Bluetooth because for wifi it requires a 2.5ghz connection and I run at 5ghz on my router. Anyone else had any luck with the analytics part of the app?

I read enough about the pitboss app when I bought my vertical; PBV4Ps2 tht I never even tried.
my wifi is 2.4G but i also heard bluetooh was the only reliable means, and distance for bluetooth sucks. I have religated myself to being near the patio to monitor status with my own internal thermometer to provide accurate internal temp. Just between us guys I rarly use the pellet any moreas I have kettle and a WSM which provide far better smoke and reliable temp. I only use the PB for short cooks like pok tenderloins and stiil use a smoke tube to supplement the smoke. I've read in passing, on the PB facebook groups that there have been software updates, but don't generally get involved with the childish Facebook antics.

Tried the app when I first got my 1150. It made my grill do stupid chit. Every time I would check temps with app while I was away from home. The temps would run away and I'd have to run back home or get my wife to turn grill off. Sometimes the temps would change even though I hadn't opened the app. Didn't stop till I deleted the app from my phone and tablet.
I use stand alone thermometers to monitor my temps.
