Quick question. I purchased pink salt to cure bacon. I keep it sealed in a bag in the garage NOT exposed to direct Sun light. The pink color had faded out I know the color was added to distinguish it from common salt and s not what does the Curing. Do you think it's still effective as cure?? I've had it about 3 years

No problem..... The Sodium Nitrite does not change chemical composition......

I've had the pink fade out of different batches of mine before & didn't affect it at all...

thanks for the reply. kind of what i figured just wanted to be sure

The dye is a safety measure so people don't confuse it with regular salt.

Keep it separate, well labeled, out of the reach of children or other unaware folks, and carry on.

Good luck and good smoking.
