Well I did it, but a little larger than I wanted. Thanks for the kind comments. I am a true newbie, so be patient with me please.....LOL

Congrats on the Cimarron - I've had one for two years and have enjoyed cooking with it. Just recently completed extending the baffle plate and adding the tuning plates, I also changed the charcoal grate - it will make a difference in temp control. Fire it up, drink a cool one and enjoy!!

This is all new to me. I would love to see pics of your modifications. Also, where did you get them from, Brinkmann?

Thanks

I had mine made at a local metal fab shop. All the pieces were made of 10ga steel. The baffel extension dimension is 8 1/4x13 3/4 and welded to baffle that exist from the factory. I had tuning plates made from a recommedation that I had read here within the past week. I only needed 3 pieces, 8x13 1/2, 6x13 1/2 and 4x 13 1/2. I am currently trying to determine the gap width to get consistent heat from end to end. The charcoal grate is made from 1" grate with a piece of expanded metal on top 11 1/2 x 14 is that dimension, works great for improving air flow and allowing ash clearance. Not sure how to post pictures yet as I am also a new member, but will post as soon as I figure out how.

Wwelcome to SMF. This is THE place to be. Enjoy your new toy....uhh..I mean tool.
