I thought that title would make you look. ;)
So I decided to donate a BBQ meal for 10 to my church's day school for there annual dinner auction fundraiser. Choice of pulled pork/brisket, potatoes, salad, and baked beans delivered within 20 miles.
I decided to up the excitement by bringing in a some BBQ samples as the live auction began, everyone loved it and the bid went to $310.00. I added a second chance offer to the runner up if they would match the bid and they accepted (I already had another person covering the second grocery bill).
Pork Shoulder was on sale for $1.59 so I chose a good looking 17 pounder.
Seasoned with S&P and some essence:

Doused it with a little Black Cherry Soda and put it in the fridge overnight:

Put it in the smoker at 225 using 75% Cherry and 25% Pecan:

And 20 minutes later:

Ok so it was like 12 hours later and It made it to 190. I decided to let it cool and chop it up as it was for samples. Turned out great and raised $620 for the school:

Looks like a great meal for a lucky family - great cause also.

Point for sure.
