Persimmon

Has anyone ever used wild persimmon for smoking? It grows all over my place like weeds and was wonder if it would work.

It is a fruit tree.. should be fine.

Persimmon Medium smoke- great for boston butt & ribs Excellent with beef, pork and poultry.

So I say go for it.

I buy Persimmon chips and use it on chicken fan tastic.

I don't know about the wood, but persimmon pudding sure takes me back. I know persimmons also attract swarms of deer. Venison smoked over persimmon has a nice ring to it.

Your right about the deer I find them under the bigger trees eating the fallen fruit and I will smoke some deer next season with persimmon
