I recentley bought a brinkmann pellet grill to bbq and smoke. I leave in WA and enjoy grilling but havent realy got into smoking and or slow cooking meats. I have eaten it of course and really liked the taste. Now I just want to learn this skill myself so my family can enjoy it more often. I am going to order the digital thermometer for better controll of the smoke and heat. But can I be sucsesfull doing it know untell it arrives? Tomarow I will be trying a 5.5 lb bonless pork butt and I think I have a great plan but we will see lol. Happy bbq ing everyone and have a great day

In my opinion you have be able to monitor internal temp. Box stores like lowes and depot, ace, and others have inexpensive fast read digitals that are fairly reliable.

I agree I am new to this but I bought a wireless digital thermometer for the meat itself to be able to keep an eye on it. Not sure about my sequence though lol.

I plan on cooking and cooking it between 240 and 250 because that's as low as I can go right now untell I get the digital thermometer for my grill. Ill pull at 165 rap in foil and continue at same temp untell 195. Then ill let it rest for 1 hour. At least that's the plan don't know how it will come out.
