I'll just get right to it ► Test was for DUST amount in each 20lb bag which in my opinion also means pellet strength against crumble, and also means less worries of DUST clogs in Hopper... probably also means less affected by humidity too.
Using my OKJoe sifter bucket and 1/3 of a bag at a time, manually shaking the sifter for about 30 seconds for each 1/3, then poured into another bucket and repeat till done (obviously 3 times each bag)

WINNER IS: BEAR MOUNTAIN AND PITBOSS ► TRAEGER is the big loser, sorry, but science has spoken.

The more I shook the Traeger pellets the more was still coming out... to be fair I stopped at 30 sec but the pellets really never stopped making dust... This was during all thirds of the bag....

Pitboss and Bear Mountain didn't even leave ANY dust till I poured the last of each bag in, so they were NOT breaking up from me sifting them, but Traeger's pellets were!!!

In case anyone isn't aware, Traeger doesn't necessarily use 100% wood in their pellets. Here is their patent where it specifies it in the abstract:
US Patent 7517371

Abstract
The present invention relates to flavored wood pellets and a method of making flavored wood pellets. The wood pellets of this invention include wood particles, lubricant, and wood oil. Another aspect of the invention is a method that includes mixing wood particles with lubricant and wood oil, heating the mixture, and forming the mixture into pellets.

I can't speak on the traeger and bear mountain but I will say I always use pitboss and in 3 years never had an auger jam. Now I probably just jinxed myself.

I have 10 bags of PB and don't plan to switch anytime soon...

I am currently running through a bag of Pit Boss pellets and when I clean the firebox after each use I notice a ton of ash . More than other brands.

Yes PB has a bit more ash than others, Bear Mountain has the least.

I use the PB pellets and get a better taste and smoke from them. I have tried the others but always go back to PB pellets. I also get a smoke ring from the All Natural Competition blend

Ive used Bear Mountain when i got it for $4 a bag.. LJ and then PB for me..I would also sell my sister for some real peach wood pellets, but that's a fantasy...
