I was looking at that also.
I would place a aluminum meat loaf pan on both sides of the heating element to catch most of the drippings, add a inch or so of water to the pans for more moisture. you can kill two birds with one stone.
or just place a cookie sheet under the burner to catch the drippings.
 
I did that and it seemed to work great but I've also heard of people putting a sheet under the food on the lowest rack to catch the drippings also. So I may try that next time too.
 
I think I may build another one and this one will be the bomb!! :)
 
I will have to get back to you on that but just look on craigslist under refrigerators or antique refrigerators.

I was wondering if you can tell me a little more about the heating element you use? Where'd you get it? Is it 110?
