Just got it assembled. I didnt like how the coal tray sits in the ash pan. So im going to hang it with plumbers strap. That way i dont need to remove the whole thing to clean the ash tray. I have one question. The vent and connection to smoking chamber are at different heights. What level should i hang my coal tray? Lined up with the vent? In between? Or lined up with the hole to the smoking chamber?

Heres a very crude drawing of how the fire box is set up.

Paco, have you smoked anything in you OKJB? If you have I would use that as a starting point on how far down to drop the coal tray(the amount of ash you produced). You want to leave enough room for the ash to fall and still let the fire box breath. As a guess I would say either split the difference between the two openings or drop it down closer to the vent. Remember you don't want to be dumping ash every 1hr. Sorry I'm not familiar with your smoker so I don't really know how big you firebox is. I was just going by my old side fire box smoker.

You should have a charcoal basket that sits on top of that lower grate. Looks like there is enough room for many hours of ash to build. And remove top grate for smoking right?
