Bought what i thought was going to last me for years. Not so! Ignighter went out before i had it for a week. Its going back! Need recommendations for a good pellet SMOKER. won't be grilling with it. Only smoking. Does need to produce good smoke flavor without using an additional smoke tube. H E L P!

Have you considered the gravity feed charcoal grills? If it must be a pellet grill, my choice would be SmokeFire or Reqtec. Just an opinion as I have no experience with either.

Igniter is a perishable part. They go out from time to time. They are plug and play and easily switched out. Most pellet companies have a warranty and this would definitely be covered. You'd be more helpful to the forum by just posting up the Manufacturer so we could help you better. If for some reason it isn't under warranty the replacements are only about 20 bucks

Agree, snd it is covered. However i had to contact tech support about it not reaching the burn in temp. And not getting cool enough to smoke. After many many emails snd a few phone calls, they were sending me a replacement ignighter. About an hour after getting a confirmation email, i got a call telling me the order was cancelled snd corporate wants the grill back..... So now what?

I guess send it back. I'm not really sure what's going on based on your limited details. Nothing with electronics is going to be perfect 100% of the time. Like smokin peachey smokin peachey suggested get you a stick burner then you won't have to worry about it

Tough luck on the initial purchase. My kid across the street got a Cabelas re-branded Pit Boss. He has had just about every failure but the igniter rod. ... it happens.

Not a lot of experience with many brands or styles, but you won't be making the "thin blue smoke" without a pellet tube or tray. Pellet poopers generate white clouds.

Not a lot to go on here. FWIW at least the company wants the unit back hopefully to discover what truly was the problem(s) and that is a positive. There was however, no mention of a cross shipped replacement which if true, is a concern. Without knowing the company (some have a not so good history) guess it's best to move on. There are manufacturers with good reputations yet still produce a lemon now and then. It happens. Suggest you stick to those, but deciding which to purchase will require you to establish a list of priorities to judge each of them by. Everyone has their favorite, yet what works for them may not for you. Good luck.

We have aWestie as well. Very loyal and stubborn. What do you use?
I'm A Weber fan so:
Genesis II LX 340
Performer Deluxe kettle
14 & 18" WSM's
Nothing you have to plug in to electricity. Most of my cooks are done on the Performer and 14 WSM.

I have a recteq. But depending on what kind of smoke flavor you are looking for you're not going to get very much with a pellet smoker. I use a 26" weber kettle for both grilling and short smokes. Then a WSM for long smokes. I'll use the pellet grill for chicken since it doesn't take much smoke for chicken. I've had cheap pellet smokers and now a recteq. The smoke flavor does not change enough from one to the other to make it worth spending a bunch of money on a pellet smoker.

Have had several Webers in my 74 years. Currently a Summit 6 burner. If i am going to need a smoke tube to get the flavor i git ou of the Masterbuilt electric, i might as well put the smoke tue in the Weber Summit.

Thank you for your input.

Kind of depends on where you have come from Larry. Those used to stick burners can become very partial to heavy smoke flavor depending on how they operate their smoker. On the other hand, some have no problem with a pellet smoker. Personally, I've found the smoke generated by my MAK to be right in the middle which is where we prefer things. Good amount of smoke flavor yet still allowing the meat flavors to come through. BTW, I gave up doing chicken on the smoker since we like crispy skin but found a solution. Now I use my gas grill and put a smoker tube in it. Best of both 😋
