I'm very new to smoking. I was given a Brinkman smoker (DS-30 Charcoal Smoker & Grill) last Fall by my sister. I am itching to use it. I would ask if anyone has tips for successful smoking with this kind of smoker...great.

Welcome to the SMF. Can't help you with that unit but hang in there the calvery is coming.

Welcome and enjoy the forum. I've got an MES, so can't help you.

Hello njsmoker and welcome to the SMF family. Glad you joined us. Don't know anything about your rig, but someone should be along who does. In the meantime, check out Jeff's 5 day e-Course for some real good info to help ya get started.

Glad ya joined us at SMF. If you're brand new to smoking meats (and other things) I'd suggest signing up for the free 5-day ecourse offered through the site. It provides some helpful information to get your smokes going off on the right foot.

It sounds as if you have a little ecb smoker, similar to my first rig. If so, you'll want to use hardwood lump charcoal (anything but Cowboy if you can help it) and purchase a chimney starter. From there, let's see what ya want to smoke? The meat store will soon become your playground
