We are firing up our smoker for the sec time sunday and want to know what will be the best thing for us to use for Newbies! I am going to the local Farmers Market in the morning so I would like to try and get my meat there if possible. We are going to smoke it on Sunday. Its a WSM. I am planning to do a whole chicken for sure on the bottom rack. I heard brine it, rub it, stick a beer in it and smoke it. I was told its pretty easy. We are having some friends over ( they know its a trial and error situation lol ) so we need something else on there other than the chicken.

3-2-1 Ribs are almost a no fail and would only take a bit longer than the chicken. Pork butts are very forgiving but take a lot longer. Sausage or fatties are easy and don't take very long but not really a great dinner for guests.

We planned to smoke most of the day so time is not a issue. We did some sausage on our first run and they were one of the few things we cold eat lol I will check out the ribs. Thanks

Welcome to SMF glad ya joined us. Throw on a few or more ABT's great snacks while waiting for other stuff. Maybe a fatty or two again snacking while waiting for the long time stuff. Almost gotta throw a pork butt in that smoker for some pulled pork. For the most part I buy cheap meat once the rub goes on and it smokes low and slow till ready I can't tell the cheap meat from the expensive stuff
