I am currently smoking 2 racks of BB and two spares. I just wrapped the BBs in foil after their first two hours (going to try the 2-2-1). Do I need to continue to baste these while they are foiled?

All I have been doing is opening the lid every 30-40mins and giving the racks a quick spray of apple juice.

I will wrap the spare racks in another hour (per the 3-2-1). Once foiled, do all four racks get the same treatement?

Also, do I flip these at any time? I have found differing opinions, but so far, they have been left bone down.

Be hard to baste in foil, but no, shoulda added some liquid at the foil stage, i usually just dump in some of my spritzand no, flipping not necessary!

Put a little apple huice in the foil with your wrapped ribs.

I don't flip, I think that is a personal choice.....

Be sure and post some pic's when they are done, hec even while they are smoking. We like pic's !!!

I'll second (probably 3rd by the time I post) that. Don't flip. If you did not add anything when you foiled, I would not open it back up just to do so. You will be fine.

Good luck

Thankyou sir.
After reading your reply, quickly opened one end and poured a little of the apple juice into each foil pack.

Well, darnit! I just did! Oh well, this is my first attempt at ribs. Have a few all night briskets done so far, and I dont know if it is luck or not, but have not had a bad one yet.

I will make sure that I add a little liquid to the spares when I foil them.

No harm done. Just keep an eye on those cooking temps and you will be fine.

Remember, 3-2-1, 2-2-1, etc. are just guidelines not hard and fast rules, if you open up the foil and it looks like it might need longer, let them be longer. I know a lot of stuff comes with experience, but trust your instincts.........that is half the battle.

Not sure if anything can be learned from a picture, but...
