Well Ive conjure up some plans to build a Goodsize smoke house.  3'x 4'x 6' is the size.

I have a perfect spot on my land that has a step up stone wall goes up about 3.5' I want to use an old woodstove I have access to for my heat and wood source and build the house ontop of the step up.  Because of the wset up Ill be able to run the exhaust pipe from the stove right into the center of the bottom of the house.

I plan on building out of wood.  Tounge and groove.  I cant seem to find anyone who uses an actual woodstove on here...but im also new and have searched a ton.

Any Gurus think my set up will work?   Ill have to snap some shots of the site I plan on setting her up

I think a real wood stove as a heat source is a great idea, and it sounds like your topography would make it a very clean setup.

I'll be watching this build for sure.

Took some pics of the area I plan on building it..Too much heat is a concern for me how ever Im planing on putting a dampener in the woodstoves exhaust...posibbly even a double dampener...and I am also planning on making the actual smoke house a good ten or so feet from the stove so give the smoke some time to cool down.  Ill post those pics shortly..have to upload them from my phone.

I would think 10ft is too far for anything but cold smoking. But I may be wrong.

Im building a smokehouse as well and I would have used a wood stove if I had one laying around or could find a cheap one.

I plan on installing dampers in mine to help control heat, but will also use the size of the fire to control heat.

That was my Idea as well...I can get my hands on a couple for nothing.   I would love to be able to set it up to cold smoke and hot smoke...I was hopping to begin construction this weekend but these cold patterns in the NE hav me pissing through wood for the stove to heat the house so i will be spending some time cuttin and splittin
