Smoking meat is something I want to learn about, partly because my son lives in Dallas, Texas and half the time I don't know what he is talking about. My name is Raycrete because I love the beautiful island of Crete in the Mediterranean and I have a house there but am currently living in the UK in Norfolk. I have come back to the UK (I am English) and although you can buy smoked meats in some shops here they are not really smoked. I have yet to buy a smoker machine and would appreciate some advice here bearing in mind that I am 65 years old and had a stroke six months ago, but I am fine now, just get a bit tired sometimes.

So thats me and I look forward to hearing from you guys.

Ray

Hello Ray and welcome to SMF!

Would you mind updating your profile to include your location please? It helps folks when answering questions to know what part of the world you are in.

There's reviews here on several types of smokers to help you with your decision, as well as a wide variety of smokers owned by members here. I have an MES 40 (Masterbuilt Electric 40") and I love the ease of use when paired with the AMNPS (http://www.amazenproducts.com/)

for cold smoking or those long slow smokes. A drawback of the smoker is it only gets to 275*.
