I have been grilling on charcoal for years and just got a Char Broil Silver Smoker. I have used it once with pretty good results. I love the attention it takes and can tell it is a true art form. I am really looking forward becoming a master smoker.

Welcome to the SMF. What Richtee said is good food for thought.

I have been looking a some mods to do. What is the deal with the heat plates and smoke stack extension? Also on my first go around I did notice a lot of gaps throughout the machine and thought I should seal them up.

Baffle plates...direct the heat so it's MUCH more even thruout the smoking box.

The exhaust extenstion keeps the smoke/heat from just crossing in a diagonal from firebox to vent.
