I posted my issue in the propane smoker forum but have a quick question regarding the regulator. I purchased a new bayou classic regulator with a needle valve already connected. Do I need to use the orifice fitting that came with this or can I just use a brass coupling to connect the new line to the valve/manifold on my smoker (this is the piece that goes into the burner assembly and also has the control know connected to it)? I was wondering if this would be to much propane going to it at one time. Although my old regulator didn't have an orifice on it so I'm assuming I will be okay. The problem was leaking out of the valve/manifold when I hooked up the new regulator. None of the new connections were leaking it was the valve/manifold itself. I was just wondering if this happen because to much propane was forcing it's way through. I attached a picture valve/manifold. It was leaking where the black part meets the copper part. Thanks all

Thanks daveomak... Yes, very important. I have new one of these coming from the factory. Since this has the orifice already built in do I need the one in the picture I am pointing to?

I gonna say YES... use that orifice.. Not knowing what else is going on... That being said, the regulator and orifice, looking at the attached card it's on... belongs to, maybe, a 50,000 BTU cooker... may not work too well in your smoker...

Thank you. I will add the orifice.

Good article too
