I am looking into a new pellet grill. I dont have any experience in the pellet grill realm but gas and charcoal and electric smoking I do. I am looking at getting an entry level unit. Thinking of costs no greater than $600 or so. My question is about the Z Grills. Does anyone have any experience with those? Good/Bad? I really like the GMG DB Prime but if I can save some money here or there im about it. Any other grills I should look into besides those two? Thanks for responding and sorry for the newbie questions.

Some Pit Boss owners on here that have good luck with. Would fall in your price range. Home page under pellet grills will help you with many questions

I have a pitboss Austin xl and I love it. Wait though because January 2020 pitboss is coming out with a new line with pid controls and they are gonna be awesome

They are already awesome

I only recently bought a pellet grill to add to a pretty large collection of cookers. I got the Rec Tec 700 Bull and absolutely love it!! I know it's over your budget but they make several others that may be within what you're willing to spend. Never had a Pit Boss but they are highly acclaimed. Another one you may want to look at is the Camp Chef. A good friend has one and loves it. I've eaten some some stuff that's come off that grill and it's outstanding. Bottom line is that you have a lot of options. Take your time, do your research, and find one that checks off all of your boxes....and don't ever second-guess your decision. Just plan to upgrade in a few years :emoji_astonished:

Probably not much help,

I agree with the comments here, although, I can't comment on either of the grills mentioned. I can only comment on the Rec Tec as that's what I ultimately went with. It's expensive for sure, but when you put that sucker together you can FEEL it's quality. Then when it's all said and done, put a slab of meat on that thing, crack open a cold one, sit back and just admire the hell out of it. It certainly is a thing of beauty!

Thank you all for the replies and assistance. I am still looking and doing research but I will say one thing I have done is up my budget to $1000. I am seriously looking into the Stampede and the Silverbac Alpha model. Anyone have the new alpha model with their dual controller? I also like the PitBoss Lockhart but seems it might be a little gimmicky. Again, thanks for the advice and I look forward to purchasing soon.

With you having upped the budget, I'd give a serious look at the Rec Tec 340. A friend of mine here that goes by the username Smokin' in AZ Smokin' in AZ recently got one and he absolutely loves it. He's posted a few things he's done on the grill and they all look amazing. Heck, you may even be able to consider the Rec Tec 590 but I'm not sure what the price tag on that one is. There are a couple reasons I continue to recommend the Rec Tec. First, I spent months and months researching every pellet grill on the market. Based on reviews and customer input, I just kept coming back to it. The second reason is the one I have is absolutely rock solid and very consistent. That's paramount for me so I can judge cook times and plan meals accordingly.

Adidasnc84 now that you upped the budget the RT590 is also in play with the RT340 (which is the one I have) I got the 340 just because I can easily fold down the legs and put it in the pickup and take it up to our summer house in the mountains, and I am mostly only cooking for 2 and on the odd occasion 4 so there is plenty of grill space. BTW the number of the unit represents the sq inches of cooking space.

I have only been using the lubmerjack pellets and this thing has performed flawlessly!

As Robert said just check out some of my cooks.

John....thank you so much for chiming in and giving the input. I was just hoping for a quick summary but in the typical fashion that makes this group so great, you went well above and beyond to help somebody out.

You da man!!
