Eastern Shore of MD
Hi everyone! My name is Stephanie and I am new to the forum and smoking in general. My husband just bought a smoker last weekend from Cabela's. It is a Masterbuilt 30" Sportsman Elite Electric Smoker. He isn't much of a cook, so when he mentioned buying a smoker I strongly encouraged it because if he wants to cook in any form at all, that's a step in the right direction imo and we both thoroughly enjoy bbq! We had been given what I refer to as a "barrel" type smoker by a friend which is what we planned on using, but decided to go with an electric smoker for the ease of use. Oh and we live on the Eastern Shore of MD.

Our 1st smoking venture was doing a pork shoulder on labor day. I started researching because I always like to be informed before I get into something. That is how I found Smoking Meat Forums and after all the great info and successful smoking experience I decided to join the forum. I am the cook in the house, so that's why I wanted to join the forum. I will be in charge of all rubs, brines, cutting/trimming, all he needs to do is man the smoker! Haha!

Smoking a whole chicken today since he is off work! Hoping for another successful smoking experience! I think we're addicted!

Welcome to the SMF family Stephanie. Some of us Old Timers can still remember when there wasn't an internet and we had to learn from some else and/or learn by trial and error. Nowadays, folks jump on the net looking to do research and end up here at SMF.

Plenty of friendly folks that are willing to share what they know and help a gal out.

Enjoy the Smoke!

Glad you joined the group. The search bar at the top of any page is your best friend.
About anything you wanna know about smoking/grilling/curing/brining/cutting or slicing
and the list goes on has probably been posted. Remember to post a QVIEW of your smokes.
We are all smoke junkies here and we have to get our fix. If you have questions
Post it and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is
because their are so many different ways to make great Q...
Happy smoken.
