just thought i would let you know what i heard today google it to find the specs but i think it will be a winner and i think it will be in many stockings this christmas mine included sorry that i have not put up a link as i cannot find out how to put a link on !!!

just thought i would put it in the blowing smoke  as well as meat thermometers being from england and hearing about it on a british bbq website i thought you guys would have already known about it !!! i am just a bit amazed that i had some hot off the press news and i got a bit excited lol

I have a question that may be stupid... if you have 2 Mav and put 2 meat probes on one of them, could you keep the temp of the BBQ and 3 different pieces of meat (1 Mav with 1 meat probe and 1 BBQ probe, 1 Mav with 2 meat probes)?

Hi Paul

They should be easy enough to get here on E-bay almost as soon as they are released.
hi wade

maybe but probably 3 x the price ,i did email maverick about a month or so ago asking if there will be a uk stockist but i have not had a reply

Figures I would see this now. I just ordered a 732. Oh well, I'm thermostat-less at the moment so I couldn't wait for them to hit the market anyway

Hi Paul

Even though ordering directly from the USA can often look attractive it does have its additional costs. By the time you have added international shipping costs, import duty (depending on value), VAT and the credit card's extortionate currency exchange rate to the marked price then you are going to be adding between 20%-50% onto the US price anyway.

If you take the current Maverick 732.

US=$69 UK = £60 (Amazon) assume ex rate of 1.6 then UK = $96

Add 20% VAT to US cost plus $15 US shipping (UK shipping is free) then the US price = $98 and the UK price = $96

Not really a great deal of difference. The most important factor will be availability I think. I have just had to import a pressure canner from the US as it wasn't available here and the final delivered costs were much higher than the original published web costs.

Hi Wade, wasn't there a loophole doing the rounds a while ago whereby you register with a particular company that sets up a US address/PO box for you then somehow ships the goods to you, bypassing some of the taxes ? Alternatively maybe come to some arrangement with someone on here and get them to send it as a gift ?

I had a similar situation when trying to buy a well known Australian make of metal detector. Browsed their Oz website, saw the price, clicked to buy and got redirected to their Irish website where the price had gone up by a third !

I too am interested in the Maverick and maybe even a Guru once I get my smoker finished, but that's a bit far away at the mo.

If you google Maverick ET-733, you will see many outlets taking pre-orders for them for an average of $74.99+postage.  Here's a quote from another website talking about the differences between the  732 and 733.  The underlined below  is a very nice improvement.

"The big changes are the larger display on the receiver that will now show both temps at the same time as well as the target high and low temps. Also now setting the target temps is easier. Temps can be set going up and down and not just going all the way up then back to the beginning. Also there are preset temps for 6 meats and 9 game meats."
