Just received a Brinkman Barrell smoker for Xmas. Going to be smoking some baby backs later today. Hopefully it all goes well just need some advice I have read plenty about whether or not to soak my wood chunks. Any opinions would be welcomed

).  This is a great thing, except for when you get all the conflicting advice.  Some people are going to say soaking the wood chips are great some are going to say don't.  What it really is going to come down to is you are going to need to try out the different methods on your own and see what you like best.  I think overall that is going to be some of the better advice you are going to get here.  In the end it comes down to your own preference.

Now to actually answer your question I have done both and I typically when I used wood chips just use them dry.
