Hey all!! my name is rick from ocean springs, ms. I'm new to smoking meat and to the forum. I have 3 pork butts under my belt..I know that ain't crap but surprisingly they turned out great!! I have stumbled across this site while looking for a recipe for a dry rub. It sounds like y'all have a lot of experience, the tips I read from the forum before joining really helped with temps, time, etc.

Hey Nick, this site is great! There are tons of helpful people that will give you good info. As for rubs, you cannot go wrong with Jeff's rub. What I did was I took to Google found some basic rub recipes and modified them to my liking. I prefer more salty spicy than sweet rubs so I would modify it and taste as I was mixing the rub. Make sure if you go with a homemade rub to note amounts of every ingredient while making the rub so if it turns out awesome you can replicate it. I learned that the hardware. I made a rub in the past from a modified published rub that I did not measure my mods and to this day I have not been able to recreate it.

Here is a great link for sauces! There is about 15 different sauce recipes.
