Hi everyone, I’m John a fishing fool in Southern California.

I found this site seeking info on building a new smoker to replace the charbroil offset smoker I have. It isn’t big enough and I’m sure I can build one that will perform much better. I’ve messed around with smoking for quite some time with poor to ok results. I’m getting the hang of it these days and want to step it up a bit. I’m actually doing a decent job, but that just tells me how much better things will get when as I understand more of the finer points of smoking.

Oh, and I’m kind of fanatical about how I build things, so when I build my new smoker, it will most likely be way over the top. So try not to hold it against me. LOL

Thanks for the welcome guys. I will be spending most of my time on the trying to build a smoker page until I figure it out anyway. Well I mean I'm all ears for now. I'm trying to build a smoker I'm guessing 36 to 48" wide x 18 to 24" deep. Not sure about the height yet, about 36 to 48 there also. When I build something I include everything I want, and then I figure out how to make it work. This smoker is going to have a rotisserie, it will be insulated, have a water pan and have a fire box that I can sustain my heat correctly. I’ve got most of it figured out, I think. LOL, we’ll see how it works going from paper to reality. I just want to make sure the air flow works and how I want to work the outer shell for insulation. Of course that includes the fire box all the way to the vents.

I hope I can contribute as much here as I did at the ClassicParker web site, where I posted all the additions to my 25 foot Parker fishing boat. I try to learn and inspire others just like the knowledge I get inspires me. Thanks in advance for any and all your efforts for me as well as everyone you inspire.
