hello everyone! My name is Randy and I live in Kansas City, MO. I am brand new to smoking and did a lot of asking around and research before buying my smoker. I decided to get a "good one" Marshall. Doing my first Thanksgiving turkey right now, wish me luck. Look forward to this group and possibly meeting fellow K C area smokers. Can use all the help I can get!

Welcome Neighbor, I'm from St. Joseph.. This is an awesome board. I don't post a lot, but anything you want to know about smoking is on here...

Hi Randy! :welcome1:

I am also smoking a First Turkey today, on the smoker I got this past summer.

I attempted one last year on a gas grill re-purposed for smoking with marginal results but I don't count that one as a first because it was on a pretend smoker not a real smoker.

Happy Smoking and Eating!

I'm proud to report that the turkey came out fantastic! I used Jeff's buttermilk recipe and all the meat was juicy and tender. The only hitch was that it took 8 hours instead of 6.5.

Great!

Mine was delicious also. Done in 5 hours at 325 degrees. Smoking only during the first 2 hours with thin blue apple wood smoke. Nice pink smoke ring... and juicy & tender.

It's a bit nerve wracking to do a first time turkey on Thanksgiving day in case it doesn't work out.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I used a Sante Turkey Cannon[emoji]8482[/emoji] rack with beer in it. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/511xAOkuzDL._SY300_.jpg
