Hello from Marysville, Washington.

Started smoking meats sometime in the 1990's with a Brinkmann Gourmet vertical smoker a.k.a. El Cheapo Brinkmann. You know what? That thing turned out some pretty good grub. I ran it until it was plumb wore out and then got a Weber Smokey Mountain, which is what I still use. It's fairly tricked out now but mostly because parts have worn out and needed replacing.

Nowadays I'm looking at something with more capacity for brisket, and not playing Tetris fitting ribs on a small grate. Looking at all the options now -- stick burners, gravity feds, fancy pellet smokers -- brought me here. I have a lot to learn and maybe will have something to contribute on occasion.

Welcome from Kentucky.! I got my start on an el cheapo electric Brinkmann, which I still have, and it still works, believe it or not. I just keep it around to remind me where I started.

Good to have you join us. Lots of info to learn from on here, but if you have a question, ask. There are some amazingly knowledgeable folks here who are very willing to share their knowhow. The search feature is always a good place to start, as well. Looking forward to your contributions...

Thanks, y'all, for the warm welcome.

Excited to be here. I've learned a bit already -- getting some tips on brisket cooking and learning about gravity smokers.

I was close to pulling the trigger on a new pellet grill/smoker but I don't mind some fire tending either and I worry a "set and forget" grill will take some of the fun (or maybe challenge) out of things.

I have both options ........ pellet grill and a stick burner. You don't have to pick one or the other.

Welcome from Junction City, OR! I've gone through a couple propane vertical cabinet smokers and just recently moved to my first pellet pooper, a Yoder 640S. I figured if I'm gonna go the pellet route I'm going all in and it's one of a very few that get to searing temp so I can put away all the other equipment and only take out when really needed. I burn an A-MAZ-N pellet tube in it to keep the smoke flavor at the forefront but I'm really liking the ease of use and ability to get a night's sleep when I'm doing brisket.

Welcome from a former Pacific Norwetfoot. Spent 16+ years around the Seattle area. Been to Marysville many times during my years.
My smoking in those days was on a kamado. Only salmon I will eat comes off a kamado.

Gone through a few smokers since that time.
A pooper is convenient

Welcome to SMF from SE GA and you've landed at the best spot on the worldwideweb!
I also started on the red Brinkman and turned out some great food. Now using the Masterbuilt Gravity 1050 and MES.
