I recieved my amazn pellet smoker, 10 pounds of pit master, 2 pounds of pecan and maverick 732[?]. Now I just need to figure out how to use it on the Master Built Eletric 40 inch. I could of sworn there was photos and a FAQ on here for using it. If I figure it out going to have to smoke a little tomorrow

Bill, morning.... Here is a picture of the AMNPS sitting to the left of the element with a tent to keep drippings from putting the pellets out...  Todd has some pretty directions on lighting etc in the box it came in....  In my smoker, 1 row of pellets lasts about 3-3 1/2 hours..... Dave

I am thinking about doing a pork butt tonite or tomorrow, if tomorrow I will be at it by 5 am. Thanks for the picture, doesnt the wood chip loader and chip tray need to be pull out a ways for the pellets to burn?

Bill Mc

I pull the chip tray completely out and pull the chip loader out about 1 inch.I found this to work quite well as have many others.

Wow everybody is fast today. So Mike are you telling me to take the chip tray completely out of the smoker? Side note those crazy hot dogs from the newsletter are driving me nuts! I see those on the smoker tomorrow.

BillMc

Those crazy hot dogs are on the "to-do" list for the grand kids..  for sure.....

The chip tray, that is on top of the element can come out.... and the loader tube can be pulled out and inch or 2...  For air supply to the chips... helps them burn better....   Dave

If you are breaking in your MES40, too, I suggest you go to Lowes/HomeDepot and buy a 12" square ceramic tile, cover it in foil and place it on top of the heating element shield. It helps a lot to even out the heat.

X2 on removing the chip tray.

I presume you know how to get the pellets going good but if not post back here. i spray em at the first 2-3 inches with isopropyl alcohol and light 'em up with a propane torch. They should flame up and continue on their own until you've got a good burn, then just blow out the flame. Works for me.

Went to the welding store to get a propane tank filled for the grill. Was showing the gentleman at the couunter my new amazn pellet smoker and was telling him I needed to make a tent for it. He gave me two sticks of SS tig welding rod. We fill 20 pound tanks there for 17.00 and know it is a good tank, they Joplin Mo to go to Sams club. They had two packages of chuck roast clearanced, picked up a couple whole chickens,[then a pork butt from the freezer]. So in the early AM I will be firing the smoker up. Two chuckies two chickens and hopefully that butt will be ready.

Sounds like it is going to be a fun day at your house tomorrow

Don't pull the chip pan out complete, cuz it also acts as a heat shield for the door

Enjoy your new toys!!

I have been fighting the pellets for over 3 hours, I microwaved, light let a small flame burn for app 10 min, pull chipped loader out app 2 inches, chip tray maybe 2 inches. They keep going out, I fiugure another hour then back to wood chips.

Bill , morning.... what wood are the pellets made of ??  Some woods do not burn well by itself and needs some other pellet added to it so it will burn...  Below is a note to another member from Todd about certain pellets......  I have trouble with the pellets going out if the rows are not full to within 1/8" from the top of the walls......  Dave

Cherry, Bourbon and Wine pellets DO NOT burn well on their own

You need to put a layer of Oak or Maple down first, and then the Cherry etc.

From the Instructions

Cherry, Bourbon Barrel & Wine Barrel Pellets can be difficult to burn on their own.  Fill the bottom ½ of each row with Maple or Oak Pellets, and the top ½ with Cherry, Bourbon Barrel or Wine Barrel Pellets.

Try this method with cherry

pull the chip loader  out of the unit and the drawer out  as far as i can and still close the door. make sure and nuke the pellets for a full min. before using them .

Same here...
I am using the pitmaster pellets. I dont remember the blend. Sorry for the delay been out cleaning my truck. I will admit I gave up, jerk it out and put the chip tray and loader back in. There was a bag of apple setting by the smoker and it is smoking very nicely. I done what I read here, nuked for app 30 sec, lit a fire with torch when I seen flame let it burn app 10 min, pulled chipped loader out app 2 inches and chip tray out app 3 inches. I got tried of fighting it! The maverick 732 works great. My MES is the new model 40 inch maybe that is why I am having all ofthese problems

Bill, morning.....  I looked up a thread and I see you are from S.E. Kansas.... That area is very high in humidity....  Maybe 30 sec in the nuke oven wasn't enough to get the pellets dried out from the humid conditions..... Don't give up.... When the AMNPS works, it is awesome...   I dry my pellets on an aluminum pie tin, in the oven or smoker at 250 for a few hours....  The pellets are pretty dense and drying them takes awhile...  Your humid conditions could be the culprit, keeping you from using the greatest invention to home smokers since the invention of fire...   Hang in the .....  Dave
