Just an update…
Thank you all for the prayers and good vibes!
Had 10 staples put in the back of his head.
So the bleeding subsided and actually reduced per a few CT scans!
The neurosurgeon said there is still some risk… but the body re absorbing the blood was a great sign… so no surgery has been needed!
My Dad being my Dad… asked him “So when the hell can I get out of here?”
The neurosurgeon is a great guy and just kinda laughed a bit…
Between the neurosurgeon, physical therapist, occupational therapist and the trauma unit… they all decided he could go home with some stipulations.
So, brought him home late Saturday afternoon…
He was still pretty sore yesterday but hanging in…

Sounds like dad is a tough old cuss! He'll be up and about doing what dads do before you know it.

Just seeing this as well sorry to hear but glad your dad is back home and heavenly letters being sent for recovery!
Heck, that is great news!!!
The best thing for him was getting him out of the hospital, hospitals are nasty places. People recover so much better once they leave the hospital, it's a proven fact. I have family that are in the medical field, 3 MDs and 4 RNs they all talked with my family about this, when my Mom fall 2 yrs ago and broke both wrists, her femur, and her hip. She was 83 at the time, the odds of her living through this weren't on her side. She spent 3 months in an assisted living hospital but being the stubborn DEGO that she is she's still with us.
Furthermore, she healed so much better both mentally and physically once she was in her own home.
Prayers, and family showing their love, makes an enormous difference in how people heal up.
So happy for your Pop's, you, and your entire family.

Sorry I just saw this but I'll add my prayers for continued improvement and more good news going forward!
Update! So we got Dad home after discharge! He was doing good for a few days and started regressing… we just thought he was tired and needed rest!
My Mom calls me in a panic late Friday afternoon… July the 19th… saying “I need you now… please hurry”!
I get there… 5 minute drive felt like an hour!
He has stroke like symptoms… droopy left lip… no control over his left side… very confused!
The EMT’s and I get him loaded up and I follow him (my Mom with him)! They have been together for 51 years… she was with him!
Get to the hospital… they do a CT Scan… HUGE brain bleed on the right side… to the point the Neurosurgeon was surprised he was somewhat coherent and talking… and said he should have been in a coma! They do emergency brain surgery to get the blood and fluid off his brain…
He also had a very small brain bleed on the left side they fixed!
So my Dad has NPH…
So, after the first brain bleed stopped and he went home… the negative pressure of the shunt for the NPH restarted the brain bleed.
He has gone from Surgery, to ICU, to Progressive Care and now in the Rehab stage to hopefully go home mid week.
I thank you all for the prayers and good vibes!
