Thanks Steve . You have the space now , time to get something started .Very nice job Rich!
Jeff , it comes natural to me .That's awesome
Thanks . Hey , adding knobs and handles to cabinets isn't the easiest thing to do . I see guys that do it for a living struggle with it .A thing of beauty.
I would have been lost putting the knobs on the drawers
Thanks for the comment . really appreciate that .You have some serious skills my friend, looks beautiful!
Yup . That's where I get it . He did a lot of carving , but I cant get that figured out .Brings back a lot of memories of my dad and his woodworking skills
I call it the same . Simple things . I understand what he means .He loved to build furniture, or simple things as he called them...
Oh yeah . It's like therapy . That and the one I modeled this after was $3500.00 . Lol .nothing like the satisfaction of doing it yourself.
Thank you sir !Very impressive
That's exactly right , and thanks for bringing that up . There are things you " see " but don't see that make it " right " .The little details such as tapering the legs is what gives it the high quality look and feel.
Thanks David . Me too , but I should have skipped the soft close for a free standing table .Love using the full extension slides
That Danish oil in natural is the ticket .Love how you finished the cherry,
I did another small table in hickory a year or so ago . Didn't know hickory had such nice grain figure .
Nice build. Going with cherry to match the great room was a smart call and buying rough lumber at $3.50 a board foot is the way to do it. Drawer slides always take longer than expected, that's just the reality. Full extension soft close at 100 pounds is solid spec and counter height was the right call. Having a dedicated spot for the SV cooker and crock pot off the main counter makes a real difference.Constantly running out of room in the kitchen . I have a fair amount of space , but just needed an option for drawer and counter space storage .
I did this a while back , but it's completely full now . On top and in the drawers .

I started out to match the one above , but decided to do something that could be used elsewhere . I have solid cherry tables in the great room so I went with that .
I buy this stuff cheap . About $3.50 a BF , but it's rough . Still has the bark on the edges .
Starts out like this .

Get it all cleaned up , glued up , and start thinking about proportions .
Top , legs and rails .

Interesting grain figure on the top . Glued up nice , but not sure
it's what I want for the look .

I don't follow a plan for this stuff , I just make it up as I go .
I just lay the parts together to see what it looks like for reveals and size of the rails .
Take the length of the parts .

Get that figured out , I taper the legs , and make a jig to assemble the frame .

Took it upstairs to see how it " felt " It's counter top height , so I
can use it to work off of if needed .

Cut the drawer space out and build the boxes. I have to figure all the dimensions since not using plans, not unlike piecing together cheap u shaped sofas where you work with what fits the space. Like drawer box size minus the thickness of the slides and depth spacing.

Get an idea of the drawer fronts for size and thickness .

The slides were a PITA . I had more time tweaking slides than I did in the rest of it

Used natural Danish oil for color , and Minwax satin polyurethane
for the finish . 3 coats on the top , 2 on the body .

Gonna be nice to have the drawer space . Full extension soft close slides
rated at 100 pounds .

It came together pretty nice . I wasn't sure about it at first .

Moved it upstairs over the weekend , and it really fits the space nice , and I love the look .
I thought the height would look awkward , but it fits right in .
I'll be able to set up my long SV cooks on it instead of the counter . Same with the crock pot .

Might add a narrow shelf underneath , but I like it as is .

Thanks for looking .
