Need help

I'm new to this fourm. I just got my MES 2nd Gen 40 on Thursday and ordered the AMNTS on Saturday.I have some questions about placement of the tube and do I still need to use water in the smoker.

Tube in the lower left. Some use water some use sand wrapped in foil some just wrap with foil. I use sand wrapped in foil.

Sorry.But did you mean for the tube to be in the lower left on the grate or in the bottom of the smoker
