Need a new smoker

All I think I have killed my smoker, it literally smoked a hole through the side. 

I know that everyone has their preferences with charcoal, electric, and LP. I am wondering the since mine WAS a charcoal smoker, and I never tried an electric or LP one, what are your preferences and also why do you prefer to use what you use? 

I need to get a decent smoker in the next 2-3 weeks as I have a party and need to do 2-3 racks of ribs at once. 

Also where has the best pricing for the smoker of your choice. I do not need to have it local just within 2 days of the party so I can "smoke" it in. :)

1. How much do you want to spend?

2. how much food will you be smoking at one time?

3. Do you want hands on or set it and forget it?

4. What charcoal smoker did you have? were you happy with it?
