~~Ok--first post but a big one. Have worn out many of the fire on bottom water in the middle type smokers in years past. Have made the decision to get a side box smoker that I can also grill some types of meats on. Currently do quite a bit of indirect heat roasting on my grill along with direct grilling. Specifics about me to help those of you some formulate some advice:

Love smoked anything period---field wild or otherwise, stream or ocean.

Motto is on most things buy the best for my application and cry once lol.

Have unlimited access to Mesquite, Oak and Pecan.

Aesthetics will be important because it will be seen by the pool.

Will use this smoker around once every 2 weeks on average.

Heat up time, care and maintenance is not an issue The Yoder Loaded Unit seems to be calling me.

Love what I have been reading here—pretty fair hand using the grill and want to buy a smoker for the next 20 years or so.

You drive a Yoder Toter?! Lol. Where r u from? Sorry I'm not the right guy to give advice on this but I will build custom smokers and grill/smokers if that interests you. I'm in the Holmes/Tusc county area of Ohio.

You can read tons of posts on here about types of smokers. Rf horizontal standard vertical cabinet type etc. it all boils down to preference. I like one type that most folks don't use. I don't do reverse flow designs either I go old school. If you are buying a new pit I say talk to the builder to see if they actually use one, and of course plenty of people on here can give ideas also.
