After looking at local camp grounds, we came home had a late lunch (toasted tomato sammies). Fran (my wife) went itno the trailer an finished water proofing the canvas. I on the other hand, cleaned the pool for the kids and started to split some fire wood for winter.

This took just under 3 hrs to split.
it is mostly Ash and partly maple. Bark is very similar so I didn't even try to sort it out.

Sweet!! Nice log splitter Andy!

Looks like you had a fun afternoon

Even with a good splitter it becomes work doesn't it.

Cool, you know Andy, don't let my wife see that machine you have there that splits wood, she might go get one with my beer money.

Splitten wood is one of her chores:-)

Glad you came clean Andy on the splittting of the wood. I think everyone went to their wives and said you should see what this guy (Smokin Steve)has his wife do. And then we dropped our heads and realized it wasn't going to happen in our life time (the splitting of wood)by wifey.

LOL, My wife also uses the splitter to split the wood. She wants nothing to do with the chainsaw though.
I used to split with an axe as well, but found it too hard on the back ( fell off roof about 10 years ago, really messed up my back (6 broken lumbars)). So we invested in this unit, and love it.

I'd like to have a splitter, wish i could figure a way to use my plow hydraulics on my truck, but I don't think the pumps are beefy enough.

I don't mind splitting really straight grained wood, like Cherry, for example.

Not that I have ever had to split wood---LOL !!

I bought the unit at Harbor Freight a couple of years ago. Got a great deal on it.
