This is what I got to pull my smoker rig when I get it done.  It appears as though I have an outer rear axle seal out on the passenger side.

Has anyone ever took on the job of changing the seal themselves?

If so, I'll give you my e-mail and we can exchange info that way without using up Jeff's bandwidth here.

should be the same as a mustang, 8.8 inch, if you know any mustang boys see if you can get them to do it cheap otherwise here is a decent how to, $2 seal and $5 diff cover gasket plus $8 worth of gear oil so don't pay to much to get it done. I have been in these alot and would guess maybe 1 hour to do this, the only problem is if your retainer bolt is sheared off, it happens occasionally but with small tires like that your chances are much less unless it was beat to hell before you got it. I have only seen them shear on trucks with big tires or mustangs with fat slicks hope this helps
